Andrew and I listened to this song on a lazy drive home from the beach this summer. As the refrain repeated in the background,
"There will be better days
There will be better days
There will be better days
There will be better days"
I revealed to him that this was one of my favourite songs. Upon his astonishment (I tend to fly the opposite direction of negativity in any form), I explained that those lines remind me that when my day is full of brokenness and ”the headlines are making me cry," (from the song Rest by Joseph), that there will be better days. And that “His mercies are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
But also, when I’m basking in a marvelous moment, the line soberingly taps my heart to say that even my best day on earth will pale in comparison to the incredible joy that awaits me in heaven (Revelation 21).
And that’s significant, because 7s don’t revel in being pulled down from the clouds. So began a discussion of the fullness each enneagram type will experience in the heavenly city.
- Ones will be made perfect, as their Heavenly Father is perfect.
- Twos will experience perfect love between God and self and all people. Heaven is a world of love, according to Johnathan Edwards.
- Threes will fully know that Christ had achieved all that is necessary and finally rest in His achievement.
- Fours will be fully known and understood, at home with their Maker.
- Fives will know God who is the substance of all wisdom and knowledge.
- Sixes will never have to fear again.
- Sevens will live into the ultimate experience for the ultimate time frame called eternity. They will have enough.
- Eights will be able to lay down their arms weapons and be at peace.
- Nines will know their Peacemaker and be free from interpersonal strife.
